Welcome to Year 2!

Mrs Burman, Miss Fuller, Miss Briggs, Miss Riches, Mrs Hallett, Miss Nisbett and Mrs Taylor welcome you to Year 2. We hope your child has a happy and successful year with us. If you have any concerns or issues that you need to speak to us about, please do not hesitate to come into school at sharing time or at the end of the day.

School Topic for Spring Term

Our whole school topic this spring will be ‘Horrible Histories’

Year 2 are looking at Medieval castles and what it was like to live in one. We will be writing a non-fiction report about a castle and testing out our knowledge by visiting a real castle at Conisbrough.

We also have a focus on materials and looking at what materials were used in building a castle. We will be learning the skills to make a clay pot, and then hopefully using these pots at our very own medieval feast.

Take a look at our planning rubric to see what else we will be covering this term

Homework and Remarkable Readers

Everyone in Year 2 will be given 1 or 2 pieces of homework to complete every week. This will either be some maths, literacy or topic based work. This will be given out throughout the week and expected to be handed into the class teacher the following week.

Our school policy regarding reading is to read 5 times each week. Reading challenged will be checked throughout the week by an adult in school. Children who have not read at least 5 times a week will miss some of their golden time to make up for this.

PE

PE Days: 2B - Mon & Fri

                2C - Mon & Thurs

                2F - Thurs & Fri

PE kit should be in school all week as children may sometimes be given extra PE sessions.  If any child does not have their PE kit for PE they will lose some of their golden time.
