Welcome to Foundation!
Mrs Barker, Mrs Evans, Miss Miller, Mrs Blakeman, Mrs Tilby, Mrs Lilley, Mrs Bradley and Mrs Ranyard welcome you to Foundation We hope that your child has a wonderful start to their school life and has a happy and successful year with us. If you have any concerns or issues that you need to speak to us about, please do not hesitate to ask and we look forward to working with you.
School Topic for Autumn Term
Foundation will be focusing upon making positive relationships, getting to know our school and learning and understanding our school rules as well as looking at our local environment and people who help us as part of our topic "Oh, I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside." We are also going to be looking at rhyming words and singing lots of nursery rhymes.
Homework and Readers
Once the children are settled in the Foundation Stage and we begin formal lessons (after the baseline assessments), children will be sent home with a letter formation activity to practise the sound they have learnt during the day in their Read Write Inc lesson. We will also be sending a nursery rhyme home each Friday for you and your child to practise at home. Your child will then be sent home with a reading book. Please share the book with them at least 3 times a week and record in your reading challenge
The children take part in lots of physical activities in our outside area, which children have access to for most of the day. We begin more formal PE lessons in the Spring term and will send a letter nearer the time to inform you of what your child will need.
